Another lovely January where you wake up in the morning and look outside to find a winter wonderland overnight. I wake up very early in the morning to drive to work and fortunately AND unfortunately…I had to stay home. My car is not made for snow AT ALL. So today I had to pull a snow day like we did back in high school, but instead of going out in the snow, today is a perfect day to read!
I just finished a book called The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides.
Let me just say, I am sometimes idiotic and way too curious to the point that I will read ahead in books just because I have no patience to wait and find out a resolution to a problem. I totally ruined one of the surprise elements in this book because of my curiosity….
The Silent Patient is about a famous painter named Alicia who is said to live a glamorous life with her husband who is a photographer. At least that’s what people around them thought until one night she brutally murders her husband by shooting him in the face five times and then refuses to speak to anyone about anything. The story follows our main character named Theo who is a psychotherapist and puts himself in charge of Alicia’s care and tries to find ways to get her to speak.
So like I said earlier, there is a large surprise element that I completely ruined for myself by looking at a future chapter. But there are so many unexpected things in this book that I’m glad I still continued to read it. It made me come up with so many theories and kept me on the edge of my seat and really made me think that we don’t know what some people are capable of. This book was my January Book Of The Month choice which if you have not heard of the Book Of The Month membership then you should definitely check it out!
I gave this book a 4.5 rating on goodreads and highly recommend it for the mystery/thriller readers out there!
I will be spending the rest of my day trying to finish up The Librarian Of Auschwitz and hopefully starting another book called Rag Doll by Daniel Cole. Hope you all have an amazing day and happy reading!
